Dr Swaminathan is a consultant gynaecologist and menopause specialist with his private practice based at Spire Regency, Macclesfield, Cheshire and NHS practice based at Mid Cheshire (Leighton) Hospital, and the Hewitt Fertility Centre (HFC) Knutsford (Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS FT).
After completing his obstetrics and gynaecology training in the Mersey (Liverpool) rotation, Ajay joined Mid-Cheshire Hospitals as a consultant back in 2012.
Now recognised as a British Menopause Society (BMS)-accredited menopause specialist, his experience in reproductive endocrinology and role as Deputy Lead of Oncology puts him in a unique position to help women with complex menopause consultations.
He was also the Principal Investigator at Leighton Hospital for the GaPP2 trial – a multi-centre randomised controlled trial looking at Gabapentin in pelvic pain – and has recently been published in The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (TOG), discussing Menopause and Mental Health.
Working as the speciality lead at Leighton Hospital for Undergraduate Medical Education with the Manchester Medical School, Ajay is also involved in training candidates for the MRCOG examinations and was an RCOG moderator for the Enhanced Revision Programme.
He is also a faculty member for various women’s health educational events.
Away from work, Ajay lives in Cheshire with his wife (also a gynaecologist!), two sons (both avid cricketers and rugby players), and a very vivacious cockapoo.
