Focusing on her specialisms of Endocrinology and Exercise, Sport, and Dance, Dr. Nicky Keay’s blends her extensive clinical experience with her expertise in medical research. Nicky authored "Hormones, Health and Human Potential," a guide to understanding hormones for optimising health and performance.
As an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Medicine at University College London, and a former Research Fellow at Durham University, she conducts significant clinical research in sports and dance endocrinology, earning numerous research publications and awards. Nicky is a member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM) and the British Menopause Society (BMS).
She is recognised for her lectures on Dance Endocrinology by the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science and the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS).
She received a BA in Medical Tripos and medical qualifications MB, BChir from Cambridge University. Following her MRCP, she gained extensive clinical and research experience in her field, working with elite athletes and dancers. She regularly blogs on Sport Endocrinology for the British Journal of Sport Medicine and created BASEM's REDs Health4Performance resource.
Nicky is also an experienced ballet dancer and teacher, and a full member of the Royal Academy of Dance. She has contributed to key publications on dance health and has firsthand experience with REDs. Additionally, she collaborates with health organizations to enhance menopause support programs in the UK. Inspired by her sons’ athletic careers, Nicky became a Pilates Foundation teacher, believing in its role in sport performance. She works closely with professionals across Sports and Exercise Medicine, Dance Health Medicine, and performance sciences.
