Try these homemade ice lollies packed with vitamin C – and they’re citrus-free too!
Looking for a healthy ice lolly for your children, but fed up of orange and lemon flavours? It can be tricky if they – or you – have a citrus allergy too.
These smoothie pops contain delicious strawberries, pineapple and mango, plus either kale or beetroot – all great sources of vitamin C, which is essential for healthy cells, skin and blood vessels.

Citrus-free frozen smoothie lollies

Makes 8 ice lollies
Ingredients
- 400g strawberries
- 200g pineapple
- 200g mango
- 20g kale for extra vitamin C or 50g cooked beetroot
- 100ml almond * or oat milk *

Method
Step 1
Slice all the fruits and either the kale or beetroot. Add to a blender.
Step 2
Pour in the milk and blitz until completely smooth.
Step 3
Transfer to a jug, then carefully fill 8-10 ice lolly moulds. Add in the sticks and freeze overnight.
Step 4
When you want to eat them, remove from the freezer and dip the mould partly in warm water, then wiggle to release. Serve immediately.
