As a one of the pulse family, these plump and succulent chickpeas have been pre-cooked for your convenience, ready to sprinkle into soups, curries and salads. Chickpeas are high in fibre and provide a source of plant-based protein too. Just 3 heaped tablespoons count as one of your five a day. Including pulses, like chickpeas in your diet often, could help you to reach the recommended daily intake of 30g fibre. Being plant-based, chickpeas are a good-value source of protein too and are an essential store cupboard ingredient. Getting adequate protein in our diet is important for growth and maintenance of muscle mass and maintenance of normal bones. Both protein and fibre take longer to digest than other macronutrients, which can help us to feel fuller. So, including fibre and protein rich foods at meal times may help to keep hunger at bay.

Cooked and glass contained goodness
The glass jar is a healthier container than cans to preserve cooked foods like these chickpeas. They are convenient and well preserved.

Ways to use
- Sprinkle chickpeas over your lunchtime salads to keep you feeling full. Toss with leaves, chopped or grated raw veg and your favourite dressing.
